Before I could react, he added that it would be nice to do this record all by myself.
He wouldn't even support my piano playing with his bass instrument.
Plus he thought it would be nice that I would sing a few of my own lyrics and maybe add some tenor sax choruses to it.
So one day he arrived with his son Boet and a portable recording desk to my music room and then all of a sudden it all started happening.
I will spare you all the details , but after we recorded three tunes, we felt it could work.
Mary produced this 'Hopper Jazz' recording for my 75th Birthday.
Enjoy!

LYRICS :
QUIET NOW :
A1
Quiet now
It’s all right
We’ve just crossed the line.
No if’s or but’s
Don’t blame yourself,
Now you’re all mine
Take my hand and love me
From now on I’ll make you happy
A2
Dawn has come
The world’s alive
Wear your pretty/great big smile
We’ll share this day
of happiness
and make it last.
Years will come and go dear,
Our love will not end here
MAGIE
A1
Warm inside,
Pure Delight,
Pinetrees pointing to the Sky,
Steeldrums playing from nearby,
Magie,
Tahiti
A2
Silent Smiles,
Tropic Isles,
Enchanting Girls and Wary Men,
Like a painting from Gauguin
Magie,
Tahiti
PEOPLE WILL TRY AGAIN
A1
Empty Rooms at twilight,
Shadows on the Wall
Children Voices silenced,
Yesterdays gone by.
Leaves that brush the Window,
A broken Swing remains,
Someday some happy People,
Will try a-gain.
A2
On the Edge of Silence,
Frozen in Despair,
Memories that linger,
Life’s beyond repair.
Outlines of a Picture,
That fades my Memory,
Someday, some happy People
Will try a-gain.
SONG FOR TODAY
A1
Here’s a Song for today,
That I wrote to delight you,
Hope I’m not in your way.
Life is grand, sometimes tragic,
But it’s worth living for,
Step outside and sigh no more.
A2
You will sweep through the Leaves
And the Wind will revive you,
Children will smile your way,
Hug a tree, touch a flower,
Turn your face to the Sky,
You will feel like a Bird and fly….
WHEN MORNING COMES
A1
When Morning comes,
My Love will still be there,
To share the Years to come,
To lighten up my Life.
A2
To walk the Streets,
Together Hand in Hand,
The Sun will always shine,
Whenever you’re with me
B
Our Love will stay,
Till the End of Time,
For you are my friend, my Love,
The Friend that I adore.
A3
When Morning comes,
You’ll wake up with a Smile,
Because you know my Love,
this Morning never ends
